The Mexico pavilion at Epcot
The San Angel Inn is located inside the Mexico pavilion at Epcot, and it’s breathtaking. This is one of the things Disney does best – the art of the unexpected delight.

The Mexican marketplace inside the pavilion
The Mexico pavilion is in a giant Aztec-style pyramid, and you’re in for a surprise when you walk inside. It’s fantastic. Suddenly you’re transported to softly-lit a Mexican marketplace, and at the back is the San Angel Inn restaurant. There are stars on the ceiling that actually make you feel like you’re dining outside at night, and another large pyramid and glowing volcano loom in the background. The Gran Fiesta Tour boat ride gently glides past the restaurant, which adds to the ambiance. (It’s also a convenient way to kill the time before your reservation! It’s a great ride!)

The food is your usual Mexican fare. Because I'm not very adventurous when it comes to Mexican cuisine I almost always get tacos or chalupas or burritos (which are all tasty). They start you out with the traditional tortilla chips and salsa before you order. We've been for both lunch and dinner, and we prefer the lunch menu.

I’m not a huge fan of Mexican food, though I do enjoy it occasionally; this place gives me pretty much what I’d consider to be your average Mexican meal. As far as I’m concerned, the ambiance far outweighs the menu, and for us, it’s worth a reservation just for the dining experience.
